I seen you answered a recent comment about a posting around 7 minutes ago.

And seen you was in “chat!!” with someone….in “recent comments” on side of page. But when I went to “chat page” I didn’t see a “live chat”…or any recent messages posted

I had questions about downloads that “only play actual audio of scenes”….but have a “pyschadelic video” playing choregraphed to music sometimes???

This on “windows media player” and when it “first starts” it trys to “start an install of….”Playgallery” but don’t find files needed then “pyschadelic video” starts with “actual audio” thou.

Do I need a “codec” pack to play the “actual video”???

I’ve NOT installed “Video Codecs” yet. Do you think that is “most likely” the problem??

If so I was thinking of downloading the K-Lite Mega pack from a SAFE site.

My reseach on free-codecs.com looks like maybe a safe site…but some users have got malaware. But it looks like “more so in the past” than recently.

Even some reviewers at download.cnet.com have had a problem with getting some malaware with “some versions”. So I’m “not sure” if THEIR newest version 9.1…has any “malaware hiding in the download” or not. But it is usually rather rare to get “malaware” from a download.cnet.com download. And I download from their myself often & have NEVER had a problem.

So PLEASE tell me if “based on my description” of the problem in my “last post”….if you think “I really need” those codecs to FIX the “problem I described”.

I will continue my search…for a SAFE site while I await “your response.” I’ll most likely scan the download good first….just to be “on the safe side.”

Hi, DJ I’m going to give K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 9.10 ( the newest version ) a try from…. filehippo.com

filehippo.com seems to be the SAFEST place to download it…based on my “extensive saftey checks”. In the WOT ratings it has NO “negative comment statistics” from MANY reviewers…and MANY “POSITIVE comments”. Siteadvisor.com ( that I “trust less” these days ) also has “almost ALL” positive reviews about it too. And it checks out FINE with MANY other “trusted rating sites”.

UPDATE: After years of using it…..I will “mostly likely” NEVER use download.cnet.com again. Because recently things have CHANGED for the WORSE. Unless they decide to change their policy due to “user complaints”. They will be “wrapping” about all of their downloads with “bloatware”. And it can easily be considered “malware” because it makes MANY changes to your computer….WITHOUT your consent. And it can be HARD to remove.

So I highly advice “anyone” who has been using download.cnet.com to SWITCH to using…. filehippo.com as a “trusted download” source for programs and things….for NOW “at least”.

REMEMBER things can change in the FUTURE. Like if a “company changes” ownership. EXAMPLE CBS/CNET took over ownership of “download.com” a good while back….and NOW things have changed for the WORSE.

CAUTION: Do NOT type fliehippo.com by MISTAKE it is a “rogue site” set-up to “catch trafic” meant for …. filehippo.com whenever you type it WRONG.
